Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Coming Fall 2008

Jul 9, 2008

An Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice will be available starting Fall 2008 through a partnership between Utah State University Regional Campuses and Distance Education and the College of Eastern Utah. The program will be available at Tooele Regional Campus, Brigham City Regional Campus, Uintah Basin Regional Campus, and the Moab Education Center.

Criminal Justice is a rapidly expanding field that provides a wide variety of career paths in such areas as law enforcement, courts, criminalistics (crime labs and investigations), law, juvenile law and corrections. Specific career possibilities, depending on the level of education one pursues, could include such things as attorney, law enforcement officer, correctional officer, inspector or compliance officer, firefighter, paralegal, private investigator, forensics specialist, private security, probation officer, and numerous federal enforcement positions.

Because our criminal justice system reflects the realities and concerns of society, the Criminal Justice program draws from a wide variety of academic disciplines like political science, psychology, history, and sociology.

Courses will be available via interactive broadcast, a two-way audio and video system that allows students at many locations to all be part of the same classroom and interact in real-time with their instructors and classmates. Classes are usually scheduled for the evenings to allow working individuals and others with busy schedules to participate.

To participate, students need to qualify for admissions at both CEU and USU. Interested students are encouraged to contact the USU Regional Campus or Education Center near them for more information.
